Daniel 9:22

And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee skill and understanding.

I am now come forth to give thee skill and understanding - , "Gabriel make this man to understand and the vision" (, "shut thou up the vision"), in that chapter shows that the symbolical vision there had not been understood fully. God therefore now gives "understanding," or 'information' directly, instead of by symbol, which required interpretation.
