Then she that is mine enemy shall see it, and shame shall cover her which said unto me, Where is the LORD thy God? mine eyes shall behold her: now shall she be trodden down as the mire of the streets.

Then she that is mine enemy shall see it, and shame shall cover her - in seeing how utterly mistaken she was in supposing that I was utterly ruined.

Which said unto me, Where is the Lord thy God? - (; ). The enemy virtually said to Israel, if He be "thy God," as thou sayest, let Him come now and deliver thee. So as to Israel's representative, Messiah ().

Mine eyes shall behold her - a just retribution in kind upon the foe who had said, "Let our eye look upon Zion. Zion shall behold her foe prostrate, not with the carnal, joy of revenge, but with spiritual joy in God's vindicating His own righteousness (; Revelation 16:5).

Now shall she be trodden down as the mire of the streets - herself, who had trodden down me.
