Proverbs 26:20

Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.

Where no wood is, (there) the fire goeth out; so where (there is) no talebearer, the strife ceaseth (; ; ). A "talebearer," or 'whisperer,' secretly traduces his neighbour, makes statements which either he or some one else has invented, reveals what ought not to be told, tells it to some one to whom especially he ought not, and repeats words in a different sense from that in which they were originally spoken.
