Proverbs 6:23

For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:

For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light - illuminating the soul, and guiding us into the true path of faith and life (; ). This gives the reason why he has said, The commandment shall lead thee ().

And reproofs of instruction (disciplinary reproofs) are the way of life. Reproofs coupled with disciplinary chastening are needed, if we are to learn "the way of life" (; ).
