Proverbs 9:12

If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.

If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but (if) thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear (it) - (.) It is not me, Wisdom, nor my maidens (i:e., inviting ministers), that thou hurtest by scorning, but thyself (; ; Job 35:6). On the other hand, the benefit will be all thine own if thou be spiritually "wise" (). Thou shelf not toil for vanity, as those who amass earthly riches (Ecclesiastes 2:18; ).
