These likewise cast lots over against their brethren, the sons of Aaron, in the presence of David the king, and Zadok, and Ahimelech, and the chief of the fathers of the priests and Levites, even the principal fathers over against their younger brethren. It appears from this verse that the Levites were also divided into special classes, and that the work assigned to each class was likewise determined by lot, the younger brother, in this case, being given equal representation with the brother who represented the father-house. So not only the principal offices in the congregation, but the auxiliary ones as well, ought to he considered with proper seriousness, lest the Church of Christ be harmed by haphazard choosing of officers.
