II. THE CRUCIFIXION AND BURIAL OF JESUS

1. The scourging of Jesus and the mockery, etc., by the soldiers in the Prætorium (John 19:1).

2. The attempt of Pilate to deliver Jesus, the bitter outcry of the Jews, and their charge against Jesus as having “made Himself the Son of God” (John 19:4).

3. The fear of Pilate on hearing this. He again questions Jesus in the judgment hall, and again seeks to deliver Him (John 19:8).
