For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

Christ came a light into the world; his gospel hath appeared as a beacon on a hill, or as the sun in heaven, επεφανη , Tit 2:12 his saints shine as lamps, &c. Now when men hate these, as thieves do a torch in the night, and fly against the lights as bats do, this is condemnation.
