Jesus was exalted by John the Baptist -- John 3:22-31: John was fully satisfied with the place and the work that God gave him to do. "You yourselves bear me witness, that I said, 'I am not the Christ,' but, 'I have been sent before Him.'" (John 3:28) John did a great work but Jesus did an even greater work. John said, "He must increase, but I must decrease." (John 3:30) John recognized his own sinfulness and he also recognized Jesus as the sinless Son of God. Jesus is above all. "He who comes from above is above all; he who is of the earth is earthly and speaks of the earth. He who comes from heaven is above all." (John 3:31) The words of Jesus were actually words of God. Jesus is God, had been with the Father and was given the Holy Spirit without measure.
