The burial of Jesus by Joseph of Arimathaea -- Mark 15:42-47: The burial of Jesus was also a significant event. When Paul described the gospel he said that "Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4) It is amazing that none of the disciples came to claim the body of Jesus. Joseph of Arimathaea requested permission from Pilate to be allowed to give Jesus a proper burial. The Bible tells us that Joseph was a good and just man who also himself waited for the kingdom of God. When Pilate knew for certain that Jesus was dead he gave permission to Joseph to take the body. He buried the body of Jesus in a tomb in a garden. He was "with the rich in his death." (Isaiah 53:9) Joseph "bought fine linen, and took him down, and wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a sepulcher." As a large stone was rolled over the mouth of the grave "Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses beheld where he was laid." The Lord died so that you might live! What will you do with Jesus?
