κηρύσσομεν. This word, which originally meant to proclaim publicly, as a herald, came to mean the delivery of any public discourse. Cf. κηρύσσειν ἐν ἐκκλησίαις καὶ ῥήτορας ἐκδιδάσκειν Lucian Deor. Dial. 24. See 1 Corinthians 9:27, note.
