βασίλισσα νότου. The queen of Sheba (1 Kings 10:1-13; 2 Chronicles 9:1-12). The visit of this queen of Yemen made a deep impression on Oriental imagination, and is found in the Koran (xxvii., &c.) “diluted with nonsense and encumbered with fables.”

μετὰ τῶν�. Woman though she was she will rise with the men (ἀνδρῶν not ἀνθρώπων).

ἀκοῦσαι τὴν σοφίαν Σολομῶνος. And also “to prove him with hard questions,” 1 Kings 10:1.

πλεῖον. ‘Something more.’
