καὶ τίς δύναται σωθῆναι; The καὶ at the beginning of the question expresses agitation and surprise. Comp. 2 Corinthians 2:2. Winer, p. 545. Here once more we catch the echo of the sighing despair caused in the minds of the still immature Apostles by some of our Lord’s harder sayings.
