45, 46. Καθεύδετε … ἐγείρεσθε κ.τ.λ. The sudden transition may be explained either (1) by regarding the first words as intended for a rebuke, or else (2) at that very moment Judas appeared, and the time for action had come. The short, quick sentences, especially as reported by St Mark, favour the second suggestion. The words ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ� mark the approach of the band, ἰδοὺ ἤγγικεν ὁ παραδιδούς με that of Judas himself, who is now distinctly seen.
