Usually, it is the memory of Jehovah's deliverances, which is thus to be handed on from father to son (comp. also Exodus 12:26 f., Exodus 13:8; Exodus 13:14; Deuteronomy 4:9; Deuteronomy 6:20 f.; Joshua 4:6 f., Joshua 4:21 f.); here it is the memory of an unprecedented disaster.
