Here the Jewish nation is compared to the fig-tree (Hosea 9:10; Jeremiah 24:3), as in the actedparable of the Barren Fig- tree (Matthew 21:19); more often Israel is compared to the Vine or the Vineyard (Psalms 80:8-11; Isaiah 5:2).
