one of these little ones The reference may be to the disciples. But there appears to be a gradation in the lowest step of which are "theselittle ones." Possibly some children standing near were then addressed, or, perhaps, some converts less instructed than the Apostles had gathered round. "The little ones" then would mean the young disciples, who are babes in Christ. The lowest in the scale apostles prophets the saints the young disciples. The simplest act of kindness done to one of Christ's little ones as suchshall have its reward.
