Exodus 8:1
1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, Go unto Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Let my people go, that they may serve me.
Exo. 8:1. "Let My people go, that they may serve Me." As the children of Israel were redeemed out of Egypt that they might serve God, so are we redeemed by Jesus Christ, not that we might be at liberty to sin, but that we might serve God. They were delivered from serving their old masters the Egyptians, that so they might serve God. So we are redeemed from the service of sin, that we might henceforth serve God; being made free from sin, we are become the servants of righteousness, as Rom. 6 throughout; Galatians 2:17-20. "Christ gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works," (Titus 2:14; Hebrews 9:14; Luke 1:74; Luke 1:75; 2 Corinthians 5:15).
