Paul refused to agree with what the false teachers taught. It was not the truth. Paul was firm. He would not give in. Paul did not let anyone *circumcise Titus. *Gentiles do not have to become *Jews. The true *good news about Jesus makes people free from the laws and traditions of religion. God accepts only the people who trust Jesus. Paul wanted everyone, especially the *Gentiles, to know that fact.

The leaders accepted Paul

v6 We spoke to the men who seemed to be the most important leaders. (It does not matter to me who those leaders were. Men cannot impress God.) Those men did not change the *good news that I *preached about Jesus. v7 In fact, they realised that God had sent me to the people who are *Gentiles. God sent me to *preach the *good news about Jesus to the *Gentiles. God sent Peter to *preach the *good news about Jesus to the *Jews. v8 God caused Peter to become an *apostle to the *Jews. And God caused me to become an *apostle to the *Gentiles. v9 James, Peter and John seemed to be the leaders. They recognised that God had given this special job to me. So they shook hands with Barnabas and with me. This showed that we were all partners. They agreed that Barnabas and I would work with the *Gentiles. And they would work with the *Jews. v10 They just asked that we should continue to help poor people. And I too was very eager to do this.
