1 Chronicles 13:7-12

1 CHRONICLES—NOTE ON 1 Chronicles 13:7 The Levites were to carry the ark on poles (Exodus 25:12; see note on 2 Sam. 6:3–4). Transporting the ark by cart (1 Chronicles 13:7), as the Philistines had done (1 Samuel 6:1), demonstrated a lack of reverence for the sacred object of God’s presence and for the Law of Moses. Uzzah intended well, but he disobeyed the Lord by touching the ark (see Numbers 4:15; also note on 2 Samuel 6:6).
