2 CHRONICLES—NOTE ON 2 Chronicles 10:1 The Kingdom of Judah down to the Exile. After the death of Solomon, and following the division of the nation into north and south, Chronicles deals almost exclusively with the southern kingdom of Judah. In contrast to 1–2 Kings, the history of the northern kingdom is considered by the Chronicler only as it affects that of Judah. The Chronicler understood that the northern tribes still belonged to Israel, but he focused on the southern kingdom, since it was ruled by the descendants of David, the king specially chosen by the Lord.
