EXODUS—NOTE ON Exodus 29:20 the tip of the right ear. Since Aaron and his sons were dressed in their priestly garments, the blood is placed on their exposed body parts to represent the whole. Specifying the right member of each of these body parts is probably related to the right hand being considered the place of honor (see Genesis 48:17). As in Exodus 24:6, putting the blood on the priests and on the altar serves to link them closely to God. It may also be seen as purifying them from sin.
