EZEKIEL—NOTE ON Ezekiel 28:11 These verses describe Tyre’s extravagant pretensions (compare vv. Ezekiel 28:4) leading to its utter devastation (vv. Ezekiel 28:18). Tyre is likened to a second Adam, clearly a created being (vv. Ezekiel 28:13, Ezekiel 28:15) and yet a cherub (v. Ezekiel 28:14). The cherub is in the garden of God (v. Ezekiel 28:13) and on the mountain of God (vv. Ezekiel 28:14, Ezekiel 28:16). Some believe that v. Ezekiel 28:17 compares the downfall of the proud king of Tyre to the arraignment of and curse on Satan in Genesis 3:1.
