EZEKIEL—NOTE ON Ezekiel 6:8 leave some of you alive. Complete destruction is avoided with the promise that a remnant will be spared (compare Ezekiel 5:3). The survivors’ sorrow is matched by the striking description of God’s deep grief at the people’s idolatry: I have been broken (Ezekiel 6:9). This is the same verb that God uses in v. Ezekiel 6:6 to describe what will happen to the idols.
