LEVITICUS—NOTE ON Leviticus 15:1 These regulations about discharges from male and female reproductive organs emphasize the transmission of infection. No matter how it happens, the person infected is required to separate himself or herself and to undergo the purification ritual. “Unclean” is not the same as “sinful,” but rather has to do with what is permitted (compare note on Leviticus 13:3). The Bible does not view the process of reproduction as evil; it is part of the original good creation. Certainly, however, the Creator of these functions has the right to tell his creatures how and when to use them.
