Mark 10:10-11

MARK—NOTE ON Mark 10:10 in the house. Once again, Jesus instructs his disciples in private (see Mark 4:10; Mark 9:33). Whoever divorces his wife and marries another. Here and in Luke 16:18 Jesus does not include the phrase “except for sexual immorality” as in Matthew 5:32 and Matthew 19:9. The most likely reason is that everyone agreed that adultery was a legitimate ground for divorce, and Jesus is not addressing that issue here. See notes on Matt. 5:31–32; 19:6; 19:8; 19:9.
