NUMBERS—NOTE ON Numbers 32:1 The conquest of the kings of Transjordan, Sihon and Og, was described in ch. Numbers 21:1. The high hills (2,500 feet [762 m]) of Transjordan were good for raising cattle, so it must have seemed a good idea for some of the Israelites to settle there. However, since Transjordan south of the Sea of Galilee is outside the Promised Land, Moses is shocked by Reuben and Gad’s request.
