PROVERBS—NOTE ON Proverbs 11:16 These three pairs of proverbs (vv. Proverbs 11:16, Proverbs 11:18, Proverbs 11:20) relate to a common theme. The gracious woman (v. Proverbs 11:16) and the man who is kind (v. Proverbs 11:17) contrast with violent men (v. Proverbs 11:16) and the cruel man (v. Proverbs 11:17). The violent gain no happiness from their wealth, which has come at a high price.
