καὶ ἐπορεύθη ἕκαστος … The position of these words almost necessitates the understanding that the members of the Sanhedrim are referred to. But in this case the contrast conveyed in the next clause, Ἰησους δὲ ἐπορεύθη, is pointless. εἰς τὸ ὄρος τῶν ἐλαιῶν, to the Mount of Olives. Cf. Matthew 24:3; Matthew 26:30; Mark 13:3.
