The gospel contains a Wisdom 2:6-3:4.

The apostle had already declared in passing, 1 Corinthians 1:23-24, that for Jews and Gentiles Christ crucified, received by faith, becomes not only the power of God, but also the wisdom of God. This is the thought which he develops in the passage, which forms in a sense the antithesis, and thereby the complement of the preceding. The first proposition of 1 Corinthians 2:6 states its theme, just as the second part of 1 Corinthians 1:17 contained the summary of the passage 1 Corinthians 1:18 to 1 Corinthians 2:5.
