But at night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and brought them out, and said,

1. An interesting study can be done on the phrase - "angel of the Lord." In the Old Testament, this phrase often, if not always, refers to Jesus' activity on earth.

2. The angel of the Lord is more than a common angel. When important matters were to be done, the Father would send "the angel of the Lord" to carry the message or do the work.

3. The doors opened and the apostles were brought out of jail.
