II. INTRODUCTION TO CHAPTER THREE:
The Corinthians had carried their background with them into the church. The Grecian social tendency was to rally around great philosophers, thus forming. band of followers. Unfortunately, it appears that this is how many of the Christians in Corinth viewed the various preachers of the gospel. In addition, Paul is faced with another hurdle to overcome in teaching them. It appears that the Corinthians considered themselves to be "spiritual". In fact,. certain portion of the church in Corinth seemed to look down on Paul. (2 Corinthians 10:10)
