"And. said, who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said,. am Jesus whom thou persecutest" "Who art thou, Lord?" "Who are you that. am persecuting?" (Stott p. 372). "I am Jesus" Upon hearing this simple statement, Paul realized that he had been persecuting innocent people who were God's people. He was actually hurting the true believers. He was wrong. He had misunderstood the Scriptures, and he was not the "expert" that he thought he was. These Christians knew the proper application and fulfillment of O.T. better than he did. Jesus had been raised from the dead. Jesus was the Messiah, and all his close friends, family members and relatives were also in the wrong.
