"From the beginning among mine own nation" "Spent from the first among my own people" (Knox) Paul had not spent his youth among foreigners. "And at Jerusalem" Paul was not just among his own people, rather he had been brought up in the center of the Jewish faith. "Know all the Jews" "Saul must have been. familiar figure in Jerusalem when as. young man he sat at the feet of Rabbi Gamaliel (Acts 22:3). He is likely to have gained. reputation for scholarship, righteousness and religious zeal. Many Palestinian Jews still alive knew how he had lived as. child, first in Tarsus, then in Jerusalem" (Stott pp. 370-371).
