For the man was more than forty years old, on whom this miracle of healing was wrought.

'MORE THAN FORTY YEARS OLD'-'made him well known and an object of universal sympathy.' (McGarvey p. 75) 'he had reached an age when such cures simply do not occur.' (Bruce p. 104)

Point to Note:

Some claim that the key to church growth in the first century was the fact that they had miraculous powers. But this section of Scripture reminds us that the miracles didn't convince everyone! See also (Luke 16:30)
