On the one hand, it can be argued that kai, was added by copyists who recalled Colossians 4:3. On the other hand, however, if the word were present originally it could have fallen out when its reference to ver. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 was overlooked. In view of the balance of probabilities it was thought best to include kai, in the text, but to enclose it within square brackets.
