Luke 3:32 Sala, {B}

The original reading appears to be Sala, (î4 a* B syrs, pal copsa, bomss eth), which copyists later assimilated to Salmw,n, the reading of both the Matthean parallel ( Matthew 1:4-5) and the Septuagint of 1 Chronicles 2:11, or to Salma,n, the reading of ms. B at Ruth 4:20 f. (Salmw,n, ms. A). In view of the early tradition that Luke was a Syrian of Antioch it is perhaps significant that the form Sala, appears to embody a Syriac tradition (the Peshitta version of Ruth 4:20 f. reads ).
