Since the use of polla, in an adverbial sense (= “much, vehemently”) is a characteristic of Markan style ( Mark 1:45; Mark 3:12; Mark 5:10, Mark 5:23, Mark 5:38, Mark 5:43; Mark 6:20; Mark 9:26; Mark 15:3), it may be suspected that the word, occurring here originally, was dropped accidentally in the course of transcription. On the other hand, however, the general excellence of the witnesses that lack the word (a A B L D P ¦1 ¦13 al) makes it advisable to enclose the word within square brackets.
