Contents: Nineveh reaps what it has sown destruction and violence.

Characters: God, King of Assyria.

Conclusion: The people that have with their cruelties been a terror and destruction to others, will eventually have terror and destruction brought home to them. They are but preparing to themselves terrible enemies against the day of their own fall.

Key Word: Woe, Nahum 3:1.

Striking Facts: The great lesson of Nahum is that the character of God makes Him not only a stronghold to all who trust Him, but One who «will not at all acquit the wicked.» He can be «just and yet the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus» (Romans 3:26), but only because His law has been fully vindicated in the cross.
