Joseph Benson’s Bible Commentary
Psalms 100 - Introduction
A.M. 2966. B.C. 1038.
This is the only Psalm in the whole collection, entitled A Psalm of praise. It is supposed to have received this appellation, because peculiarly adapted, if not designed, to be sung when the sacrifices of thanksgiving were offered: see Leviticus 7:12. The LXX. think it was written by David, who here invites all the world to join with the Israelites in the service of God, whose divine sovereignty he recognises, Psalms 100:1.
