For it pleased, &c.— Or, For in him all fulness pleased to dwell. The 9th verse of the next Chapter seems clearly to explain this passage—"It pleased the Father that all the plenitude of the Godhead should reside inhim bodily." The word rendered dwell signifies a permanent and inseparable presence; and it is stiled by the fathers an hypostatical union. See John 1:16. Ephesians 1:23.
