He shall take of mine— He will receive of mine, ληψεται the same word as in John 16:14 and consequently the translation should be the same in both places. "Be not surprized that I said unto you, He will receive of mine, &c. for the whole treasure of the Father's wisdom belongs to me." See Colossians 2:3. Those who oppose the divinity of Christ, seem to be at a loss for an explication of this passage. Le Clerc tells us, that it is highly figurative;—that the subject treated of is such as cannot be understood by reason;—that the manner of it is not revealed;—and therefore it is not possible to mark precisely the proper sense of every expression. Such are the shifts to which the espousers of a false hypothesis are reduced!
