Joshua 10:29-32

Ver. 29-32. Then Joshua passed—unto Libnah—and—from Libnah—unto Lachish, &c.— Having refreshed his army, Joshua brought it before Libnah, a town near Makkedah, chap. Judges 15:41 and which, afterwards, being comprized in the tribe of Judah, fell to the lot of the Levites, chap. Joshua 21:13. 1 Chronicles 6:57. Sennacherib laid siege to it, when he so haughtily menaced king Hezekiah, 2 Kings 19:8. Eusebius and St. Jerome say, that Libnah, in their time, was a village in the district of Eleutheropolis. Joshua put all the inhabitants to the sword, and then, advancing towards the south, proceeded to Lachish, seven miles from Eleutheropolis, and subdued it in like manner; but it cost him a day more than its neighbour Libnah; which probably was owing to the diversion given by the king of Horam, of which we proceed to take notice.
