Give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness— The holiness of God here refers particularly to his truth and faithfulness to his promises, which argues the rectitude and sanctity of his nature. Of this David had the highest and most comfortable assurance, God having at last brought him to the throne, and settled him in the possession of it, notwithstanding he was often reduced to the greatest hazard of his life, and his advancement to the kingdom seemed, according to all human probability, almost impossible.
