This is now the third time that Jesus shewed himself to his disciples. — Better,... that Jesus was manifested... — Comp. Note on John 21:1. The writer is giving his own witness. He passes over, therefore, the appearances to Mary Magdalene and others, and counting only those “to the disciples” — to the Ten on the first Easter day, and to the Eleven on its octave — gives this appearance as the third. (Comp. Note on 1 Corinthians 15:5.)
