Verse Song of Solomon 6:4. _BEAUTIFUL - AS TIRZAH_] This is supposed
to be the address of Solomon to the bride. Tirzah was a city in the
tribe of Ephraim, (Joshua 12:24,) and the capital of that district. It
appears to have been _beautiful_ in _itself_, and _beautifully_
_situated_, for _Jeroboam_... [ Continue Reading ]
Verse Song of Solomon 6:5. _TURN AWAY THINE EYES_] As the sight of so
many fires after night was extremely _dazzling_, and the _eye_ could
not _bear_ the sight, so the _look_ of the bride was such as pierced
the heart, and quite overwhelmed the person who met it. Hence the
bridegroom naturally cries... [ Continue Reading ]

Verse Song of Solomon 6:8. _THERE ARE THREESCORE QUEENS_] Though there

Verse 12. _THE CHARIOTS OF AMMINADIB._] Probably for their great speed
these chariots became proverbial. The passage marks a strong agitation
of mind, and something like what we term palpitation of the heart. As
I am not aware of any _spiritual_ meaning here, I must be excused from
commenting on tha... [ Continue Reading ]
Verse Song of Solomon 6:13. _RETURN, O SHULAMITE_] This appears to be
addressed to the bride, as now the confirmed, acknowledged _wife_ of
_Solomon; for_ שולמית shulammith, appears to be a _feminine_
formed from שלמה _shelomoh_, or שלמון _shelomon_, as we form
_Charlotte_ from _Charles; Henrietta_,... [ Continue Reading ]
