Called both a brook and a valley because the one ran in the other, now called a Wady, which are very numerous in Palestine. It was near Hebron, the place explored by the spies, and from whence they carried the huge bunch of grapes. Numbers 13:23, Numbers 1:13; Numbers 32:9; Deuteronomy 1:24. In the district around Beersheba there are still miles of grape vines.
