1. A family of priests who bore this name. One had charge of the sixteenth course of priestly service, and some returned from exile, two of whom had married strange wives; but there is no genealogy of their descent from Aaron. 1 Chronicles 9:12; 1 Chronicles 1:24; Ezra 2:37; Ezra 10:20; Nehemiah 7:40; Nehemiah 11:13; Jeremiah 20:1.

2. Father of Zadok who repaired the wall of Jerusalem. Nehemiah 3:29.

3. Place from which some returned from exile. Ezra, 2:59; Nehemiah 7:61.
