Gerizim Mount Gerizim stood beside the town of Shechem, opposite Mount Ebal. Both mountains were closely linked with Shechem in the history of Israel, and Mt Gerizim later became a sacred mountain to the Samaritans (Deuteronomy 1:27-14; John 4:20). (For details See Shechem.)
