So Saul died for his transgression which he committed against the LORD, even against the word of the LORD, which he kept not, and also for asking counsel of one that had a familiar spirit, to inquire of it;

Saül est mort pour sa transgression - en ayant épargné le roi des Amalécites et en prenant les troupeaux des peuples comme butin, ainsi qu'en ayant consulté une pythonisse. Ces deux actes étaient de grands péchés; le premier comme une violation du commandement exprès et positif de Dieu, et le second comme contraire à un statut bien connu du royaume (Lévitique 19:31).
